Vehicle Tips
According to recent studies, 5 percent of all motor vehicle fatalities are clearly caused by automobile maintenance neglect. The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. The level, condition, and concentration of coolant should be checked. (A 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water is usually recommended.)Never remove the radiator cap until the engine has thoroughly cooled. The tightness and condition of drive belts, clamps and hoses should be checked by a pro.Change your oil and oil filter as specified in your manual, or more often (every 3,000 miles) if you make frequent short jaunts, extended trips with lots of luggage or tow a trailer.Replace other filters (air, fuel, PCV, etc.) as recommended, or more often in dusty conditions. Get engine drivability problems (hard stops, rough idling, stalling, diminished power, etc.) corrected at a good shop.A dirty windshield causes eye fatigue and can pose a safety hazard. Replace worn blades and get plenty of windshield washer solvent.Have your tires rotated about every 5,000 miles. Check tire pressures once a month; let the tires cool down first. Don't forget your spare and be sure your jack is in good condition.Check your owner's manual to find out what fuel octane rating your car's engine needs then buy it.Keep your tires inflated to the proper levels. Under-inflated tires make it harder for your car to move down the road, which means your engine uses more fuel to maintain speed.Lighten the load. Heavier vehicles use more fuel, so clean out unnecessary weight in the passenger compartment or trunk before you hit the road.Use the A/C sparingly. The air conditioner puts extra load on the engine forcing more fuel to be used.Keep your windows closed. Wide-open windows, especially at highway speeds, increase aerodynamic drag and the result is up to a 10% decrease in fuel economy.Avoid long idling. If you anticipate being stopped for more than one minute, shut off the car. Contrary to popular belief, restarting the car uses less fuel than letting it idle.Stay within posted speed limits. The faster you drive, the more fuel you use. For example, driving at 65 miles per hour (mph) rather than 55 mph, increases fuel consumption by 20 percent.Use cruise control. Using cruise control on highway trips can help you maintain a constant speed and, in most cases, reduce your fuel consumption.Keep your engine tuned. A fouled spark plug or plugged/restricted fuel injector can reduce fuel efficiency as much as 30 percent.Inspect the engine's belts regularly. Look for cracks or missing sections or segments. Worn belts will affect the engine performance.Have the fuel filter changed every 10,000 miles to prevent rust, dirt and other impurities from entering the fuel system.Change the transmission fluid and filter every 15,000 to 18,000 miles. This will protect the precision-crafted components of the transmission/transaxle.Inspect the suspension system regularly. This will extend the life of the vehicle's tires.
What People Say About Us

This is our first time posting an online review, but it couldn't be for a more deserving business with such exceptional employees. Fisher Transmission and Steve are a true class act!
If there would be an option for 100 stars it wouldn't be enough to recognize their outstanding service, caring and competence.
We were with our whole family in our RV on the 280, far from home, when smoke billowed out from the undercarriage late Thursday night. We waited until Friday morning and contacted a mechanic which had high online ratings who although was unable to handle a 35 foot Motorhome highly recommended we get towed to Fisher Transmission, saying as we found out for ourselves, they are truly top of the line. The heavy duty tow truck driver said the same when towing us - and oh were they correct!
Upon arriving, Steve came out with cold water bottles - unasked - understanding we were stuck at the side of the road for many hours, and although he was booked solid, took from his own lunch break time to see if he can help us get back on the road. His demeanor, both humble and professional, with such calmness - was so remarkable and reassuring during the stressful experience.
When he realized that our transmission would not be able to be repaired in time for our weekend trip to continue as planned, he generously offered us to leave our Motorhome in the lot over the weekend and rent a vehicle locally so we could join our friends for our weekend trip.
Although the experience was definitely traumatic, meeting such exceptional people like Steve, made for the most wonderful memories.
If you would like to speak to us personally please reach out to Steve - we gave him permission to give out our number - it's the least we can do to recognize such an extraordinary establishment staffed by such exceptional people.

This shop is knowledable and stands by its work. Very reliable. Other mechanics know them as experts in their field.
Fisher Auto has been in business for over 60 years! Anyone who has ever been to the shop can tell you that it is the number one place to bring your vehicle, whether its late model, antique or specialty. For those looking for a top-notch repair shop, Fisher Auto fits that bill without question!
Fisher Auto Transmission replaced the clutch in my Mini Cooper S after a "specialty" Mini shop did a poor job of installing one. The parts installed by the specialty shop destroyed themselves when the transmission locked up on a downshift. Fisher did a great job of replacing the defective parts and the clutch they installed lasted for the life of the car (from 110k to 210k miles). I found Fisher's staff to be knowledgeable, efficient, and polite.
I took my 2008 Hyundai with only 60,000 miles to them with a small transmission fluid leak. I had previously been to Hyundai service and they told me that they would have to drop the transmission ($500) to find the problem and then they might not be able to fix it, and I might have to replace the it ($3700).
Steve instead tried to fix the problem inexpensively first, before moving on to more expensive. After a few tries (new o-ring/sealant/tightening) the problem was solved! And he only charged me $70!!
Extremely reputable, knowledgeable and honest! I will certainly be taking my car to them in the future for any future auto issues.
Fabulous place, honest, cost less than I thought. Will go back again and highly recommend.
